Hidden gems of Nafplio

The Metropolitan church of Agios Georgios

And here, in the metropolitan church of Agios Georgios, the history of modern Greece gives a strong “presence”: this is where the funeral of Old Patras Germanos, Dimitrios Ypsilantis and Ioannis Kapodistrias took place. This is where Otto was crowned king of the first Greek state. Inside the Cathedral you will see one of the best copies of Leonardo Da Vinci’s Last Supper. It is believed to be the work of one of his students.

The historical rosary museum

Its owner spent over 40 years collecting and learning everything about the rosary. In his collection you will see about 700 different Muslim, Christian, Catholic, Hindu, Buddhist, Greek and Turkish rosaries.

The impressive land gate

It was the only entrance to the lower city from land, and even closed after sunset. Anyone who did not catch it, spent the night outside… Today, the exterior of the gate has been reconstructed, as it was in its original form.
